Keep Calm and Liver On, the Walkathon for Chris Mahoney was conceived as a fundraiser by Charter Learning Center 8th Grader, Emma Ligtenberg. She knew how ill Chris was and wanted to take action. With help from the community in San Carlos, she help drive this plan to involve the whole community in a walk to help Chris.

Chris Mahoney is a father, husband, teacher, coach and the Director of the Charter Learning Center in San Carlos. He has devoted his life in the service of helping others. Now, he needs our help.

As the result of a rare liver disease, Chris’s liver is failing and his only option at this point is a liver transplant - in the next six months. We’re reaching out to you to help support this man who has given so much to our community and children.

Although Chris has medical coverage, he and his family need financial assistance to help cover the cost of his donor search (expenses not covered by health insurance). All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit Chris directly by expanding his access to numerous transplant facilities.

Keep Calm and Liver On will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., at Burton Park in San Carlos.

We are asking businesses in the community to donate gift certificates or merchandise for our raffle and silent auction. In addition, any publicity would be greatly appreciated.
